There are baseball clubs you join because somebody votes you in and then there are clubs you join because you did something extraordinary enough to simply belong.
The Black Aces are Black pitchers who have won 20 games in a Major League season.
Don Newcombe became the first in 1951. Jim “Mudcat” Grant joined him in 1965, becoming the first Black pitcher to win 20 games in the American League. Years later, Grant gave this remarkable fraternity its name and made it a mission to recognize the pitchers who had reached it — and encourage more to follow.
There were 13 Black Aces when Grant published his book The Black Aces in 2007. There are only 15 today. The most recent is David Price, who won 20 games in 2012. Which means the club isn’t finished, but rather it’s waiting.
That became the idea behind Pop Fly #255.
A normal deck gets four Aces. But in this club, there can always be another card.
There can always be another pitcher who gets there.
There is no last Ace.
Every copy of THE BLACK ACES includes one Black Ace playing card ...spade, heart, diamond or club ... made especially for this release.
Among them are just 20 individually gold-foil versions, five of each suit, randomly inserted into orders.

Pop Fly Pop Shop is an ongoing art project by Daniel Jacob Horine that started in 2020. At its core, the project features weekly limited-edition collectible art prints called “Pop Flys,” each measuring 7 x 10.5". These prints showcase sports legends and iconic moments, depicted in the vibrant, exaggerated style of comic book storytelling. Each release captures the magic of both sports and art, making Pop Flys a unique fusion of nostalgia and creativity.

Each Pop Fly art print measures 7 x 10.5" and is hand-signed and numbered by the artist on the back. It comes packaged in a comic book sleeve, reminiscent of the comics you collected as a kid. Additionally, each print includes a collectible ticket, which is also produced in limited editions. These tickets are as collectible as the prints themselves, adding another layer of nostalgia and value to the overall experience. We want the feeling of opening a Pop Fly to transport you back in time to those moments of excitement and joy from childhood.
