Pop Fly #253: The Machine
Albert Pujols showed up at the turn of the millenium and immediately started breaking things. He hit .329 with 37 home runs as a ROOKIE. 22 seasons later, he walked away with over 700 home runs, 3 MVPs , 11 All-Star selections and a .296 career average. At some point in his career, “Albert” just stopped being an adequate explanation. They called him The Machine. So I took it literally here.
Pop Fly #254 imagines Pujols as the kind of baseball-playing mechanical marvel deserving of the nickname that might have appeared on the cover of a wildly overexcited 1960s comic book that might've been on the stands when Stan Musial played. Steel hands, gears, wires. pistons...and a wooden bat. And, somewhere inside all that machinery, Albert calmly waiting for the pitcher to make his next mistake.
As Pujols once put it: “I know what I am capable of doing.” That sounds considerably more threatening when you’re made of metal and called The Machine.

Each Pop Fly art print measures 7 x 10.5" and is hand-signed and numbered by the artist on the back. It comes packaged in a comic book sleeve, reminiscent of the comics you collected as a kid. Additionally, each print includes a collectible ticket, which is also produced in limited editions. These tickets are as collectible as the prints themselves, adding another layer of nostalgia and value to the overall experience. We want the feeling of opening a Pop Fly to transport you back in time to those moments of excitement and joy from childhood.
