That name has always mattered to me, because The Streak lives outside the player. It’s bigger than one person. It’s something you carry. Something you chase. Something that demands something from you every single day.
When I read Cal Ripken Jr. talk about it, the pressure, the weight, the way it followed him, it didn’t sound like a number.
It sounded like a force.
So I finally did what I’ve wanted to do for a long time and personified it.
Not as a villain.
Not as an enemy.
But as something formidable. Something relentless. Something that, once you overcome it, becomes part of who you are.
At one time, it belonged to Lou Gehrig.
Then it moved through the world and became part of Cal Ripken Jr.’s legacy.
Still called The Streak, even after it changed hands.
This moment isn’t the victory lap.
It’s mid pursuit.

Pop Fly Pop Shop is an ongoing art project by Daniel Jacob Horine that started in 2020. At its core, the project features weekly limited-edition collectible art prints called “Pop Flys,” each measuring 7 x 10.5". These prints showcase sports legends and iconic moments, depicted in the vibrant, exaggerated style of comic book storytelling. Each release captures the magic of both sports and art, making Pop Flys a unique fusion of nostalgia and creativity.

Each Pop Fly art print measures 7 x 10.5" and is hand-signed and numbered by the artist on the back. It comes packaged in a comic book sleeve, reminiscent of the comics you collected as a kid. Additionally, each print includes a collectible ticket, which is also produced in limited editions. These tickets are as collectible as the prints themselves, adding another layer of nostalgia and value to the overall experience. I discovered Pop Fly Shop too late for Rickey in Green and Gold. This one is great since it's Rickey and really great if you're a Yankees fan. My wife and I met him at the Oakland Coliseum about 2 weeks after his HOF induction/speech. He'd played minor league ball for the A's in Modesto our then hometown. He went way out of his way to come back to talk with us, his small posse in tow and spent 5 or10 minutes talking and reminiscing. In my eyes he's always in Oakland, holding 3rd base over his head after breaking Lou Brock's record OR running wild for Billy Martin in 1980 as a young rookie.
