The 20th and final print for season 1 of the Pop Fly Football series features 1965 Rookie of the Year Gale Sayers. This 7 x 10.5” print is available for preorder for the next two weeks then it is retired forever.

About Sayers

Gale Sayers was a standout at the University of Kansas, and was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1965. His rookie year would see him set a then-NFL record of 22 touchdowns while being named the NFL Rookie of the Year and an All-Pro. He was an immediate hit, with his blazing speed and agility leaving defenders in the dust.

He continued this to be one of the most elusive and difficult-to-tackle players of his through his first five seasons, earning four Pro Bowl appearances and five first-team All-Pro selections. An injury to his right knee forced Sayers to miss the final five games of the 1968 season. Returning 1969 he led the league in rushing yards and named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year. However, an injury to his left knee in the 1970 preseason as well as subsequent injuries kept him sidelined for most of his final two seasons,

Despite a relatively short career, "The Kansas Comet" stands out as one of the greatest in the game with arguably the most remarkable rookie season of all time.

“Every time I look at these prints, I think of my father. If artists can channel their adversity into incredible works of art that we get to enjoy, then we should challenge ourselves to turn our struggles into something that can benefit others.”
