Now, a little bit about "The Penguin." The tale of Ron Cey's remarkable career is a symphony of clutch performances and indomitable spirit. Cey, lovingly known as "The Penguin" for his distinctive gait on the baseball diamond, etched his legacy into the hearts of fans and teammates alike.

Bounding into the majors in 1971, Cey quickly emerged as a critical cornerstone of the Los Angeles Dodgers' infield. A master of the third base, he was part of the Dodgers' longest-running infield, the "Infield of Dreams," alongside Garvey, Russell, and Lopes, forging an unyielding bond that propelled the Dodgers to new heights.

Like a maestro commanding the stage, Cey's bat sang a harmonious tune when it mattered most. "Captain Clutch" they also called him, a moniker earned through countless heart-pounding moments where he rose to the occasion with steely resolve.

His unwavering dedication to the sport and camaraderie with teammates turned Cey into a beloved figure, not just for the Dodgers faithful but for baseball aficionados everywhere.

Beyond the field, his infectious smile and genuine sportsmanship embodied the essence of a true sports legend.

As time marched on, Cey's legacy continued to shine, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of fans and the lore of the game. For Ron Cey was more than a baseball player; he was a symbol of perseverance, resilience, and a never-ending passion for America's favorite pastime.

In the world of baseball, where stories intertwine with destiny, Ron Cey's narrative will forever be etched as a tale of triumph and inspiration, a testament to the power of a man who embodied the heart and soul of the game.

Personally, "The Penguin" holds a special place in my own heart, having grown up in the shadow of Dodger Stadium. While he had already moved on to Chicago and then to Oakland by the time I was interested in baseball, he was already a living legend here in Los Angeles. To be working with him on this piece is a true honor to work with a hometown hero.

“Every time I look at these prints, I think of my father. If artists can channel their adversity into incredible works of art that we get to enjoy, then we should challenge ourselves to turn our struggles into something that can benefit others.”
