This week's 7x10.5" Pop Fly Print #118 is of one of the hardest-throwing pitchers of all time; Bob Feller. This piece is available for preorder for one week only then it's retired forever.

Bob Feller was a personal favorite of mine as a kid. In fact, the first autographed baseball I ever bought was at a baseball card show in the late 80's in West Covina, CA. And it was a ball signed by, you guessed it Bob Feller. The legend of his fastball reached and enraptured me as a young kid.

But now...a little about "Rapid Robert". 

You know that story about the guy who built the baseball field amidst the corn on his family farm in Iowa? No, not that one. The one built by William Feller over 90 years ago for his 14-year-old son Robert. William saw that Robert or "Bob," as the world would know him later, had a gift for the game. Originally a hard-hitting shortstop, Bob took up pitching by age 15. And by age 17, he was a major leaguer with an arm regularly clocked at over 100 miles per hour, a rare and impressive feat even by today's standards.

And that fastball earned him many nicknames over the years: Rapid Robert, Bullet Bob, and The Heater from Van Meter. Though the game has changed so much since Feller's days, his legacy as one of the hardest-throwing hurlers of all time blazes brightly nearly 70 years after he threw his last pitch.
