This piece was in collaboration with Mario Mendoza himself and, as a nod to the legendary number, a limit of 200 signed copies will be available until they are sold out. Those signed pieces will be the first 200 in the print run -- meaning that if you purchase a signed copy, your copy will be numbered 200 or lower.
The regular unsigned copies will be available for preorder as usual until next Sunday, Nov 13th.
From the Artist:
What started as a clubhouse joke became a piece of baseball lore and a piece of Pop Culture. In baseball lingo, the "Mendoza Line" refers to a batting average under .200, the supposed threshold of a major leaguer. Since then the term has grown beyond baseball and has been used in media, music, and movies for decades.
It was named after Mario Mendoza, known more for his prowess with a glove than with a bat. While he might've kept a lifetime batting average a tick above .200, Mendoza revolutionized the shortstop position and became a hero in his native Mexico, being inducted into the Mexican Hall of Fame. He made fielding look so easy his nickname was Manos De Seda -Silk Hands.
While The Mendoza Line is forever a part of culture, know there is more to the phrase, more the story and much more to the man.

“Every time I look at these prints, I think of my father. If artists can channel their adversity into incredible works of art that we get to enjoy, then we should challenge ourselves to turn our struggles into something that can benefit others.”
