Craig "Ironhead" Heyward, an unforgettable presence in the world of football, carved out a legacy with his remarkable power and resilience on the field. Born on September 26, 1966, Heyward's journey in football began at Passaic High School, New Jersey, and flourished at the University of Pittsburgh, where he became a standout running back. His prowess in college football led him to be a first-round draft pick in the 1988 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints.

Over an illustrious 11-year career in the NFL, Heyward played for several teams, including the Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, St. Louis Rams, and Indianapolis Colts, in addition to the Saints. Known for his formidable running style, Ironhead was a force to be reckoned with, amassing over 4,000 rushing yards and scoring numerous touchdowns. His nickname "Ironhead" spoke to his physicality and determination, traits that endeared him to fans and players alike.

Beyond his achievements on the field, Heyward's personality and heart left an indelible mark on the sport. His battle with a brain tumor later in life showcased his fighting spirit, echoing the courage he displayed in every game. Craig Heyward passed away in 2006, but his legacy lives on, not only in the record books but in the memories of those who witnessed his indomitable spirit and the sheer joy he brought to the game of football.

“Every time I look at these prints, I think of my father. If artists can channel their adversity into incredible works of art that we get to enjoy, then we should challenge ourselves to turn our struggles into something that can benefit others.”
