From the Artist:

THE LOST BOYS
Men on base. Nobody out.

There are baseball careers that unfold slowly, with room to breathe.

And then there are careers that arrive all at once,
without context,
without witnesses,
without time.

The 2020 season was like that.

Empty stadiums.
Sixty games.
No crowd to absorb the nerves.
No margin for error.

For 21 players, that season wasn’t a step forward.
It was the entire story.

They reached the major leagues.
They stood on the field.
They did the thing they had worked their whole lives to do.

Nobody out there to see it.

This piece isn’t about failure.
It isn’t about what didn’t happen.

It’s about potential paused.
About opportunity stranded.
About a phrase we hear every game , 'men on base, nobody out'
and how differently it sounds when nobody is out to the ballpark.

The empty seats aren’t symbolic.
They’re factual.

So is the silence.

What stays with me isn’t the stat lines or the outcomes.
It’s the idea that a career can be real
even if it never gets a second chapter.

That a moment can matter
even if it passes without applause.

This piece isn’t about the virus.
It’s about the season.

About the players who were here, briefly,
and the stories that almost disappeared with them.

That’s The Lost Boys I keep coming back to.

What is Pop Fly?

Pop Fly Pop Shop is an ongoing art project by Daniel Jacob Horine that started in 2020. At its core, the project features weekly limited-edition collectible art prints called “Pop Flys,” each measuring 7 x 10.5". These prints showcase sports legends and iconic moments, depicted in the vibrant, exaggerated style of comic book storytelling. Each release captures the magic of both sports and art, making Pop Flys a unique fusion of nostalgia and creativity.

What’s Included?

Each Pop Fly art print measures 7 x 10.5" and is hand-signed and numbered by the artist on the back. It comes packaged in a comic book sleeve, reminiscent of the comics you collected as a kid. Additionally, each print includes a collectible ticket, which is also produced in limited editions. These tickets are as collectible as the prints themselves, adding another layer of nostalgia and value to the overall experience. We want the feeling of opening a Pop Fly to transport you back in time to those moments of excitement and joy from childhood.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Every time I look at these prints, I think of my father. If artists can channel their adversity into incredible works of art that we get to enjoy, then we should challenge ourselves to turn our struggles into something that can benefit others.”

Meet the Artist

Daniel is the artist that designs all of our Pop Fly Pop Shop prints. Every piece is made with purposeful intentionality and thoughtful effort. Daniel is a storyteller, and during every drop, he is able to showcase the player’s journey and important moments from their career. The art prints do not simply focus on the player's image but about the entire path that has led them to the big leagues.
