One of the best stories in baseball pops up this week for Pop Fly. The story of Moe Berg, MLB catcher-turned-American-spy.
With a .45 pistol and a cyanide capsule in his pocket, his objective was to gather crucial information on Nazi Germany's progress in developing an atomic bomb while working as a spy for the United States government under the Office of Strategic Services. His codename: Reemus. His real name: Moe Berg.
Before his espionage career, Berg enjoyed a successful stint in baseball during the 1920s and 1930s. As a catcher for MLB teams like the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox, he earned the nickname "The Professor" for his linguistic skills and intellect.
Moe Berg's extraordinary life, transitioning seamlessly between the realms of sports and espionage, highlights a man who utilized his diverse talents in the most DEADLY double-play.
This 7 x 10.5" art print will be available for purchase between now and 9/24/23, after which it is retired forever. The artwork is estimated to ship between 40-60 days after the purchase window closes. This is not a guaranteed timeline, only an estimate.
